Recently, the Las Vegas "Big Sphere" (MGS Sphere) has attracted a lot of attention. This cost 2.3 billion dollars, the world's largest spherical structure theater, up to 112 meters high, the widest 157 meters. The entire surface of the sphere is covered with 1.2 million ultra-high resolution LED light sources, with a total area of 54,000 square meters.

A circular LED screen, measuring more than 15,000 square meters, is installed in the MGS Sphere, with a resolution of 19,000x1350. The giant sphere is the product of a partnership with Hitachi Vantara, which specializes in infrastructure businesses such as data processing and cloud storage.

According to the latest data released by Sphere Entertainment, both the inner and outer screens of the large sphere support 16K UHD resolution. Twenty-seven computing nodes are used for this purpose, and each node can transmit 4K video and aggregate it into a 16K screen. At the same time, the system supports full 4:4:4 chroma downsampling technology, and the display delay is only about 5 milliseconds.

In addition, the entire system utilizes up to 4 petabytes of flash storage arrays, which means 4,000 terabytes (TB) of capacity, and 400 gigabytes per second of transfer speed. In order to acquire 16K resolution sources, Sphere Entertainment has also developed its own camera, Big Sky, which can even capture up to 18K resolution.
