1. Technology Development of Transparent LED Displays

For someone who have little idea of the physical transparent LED display, "transparent screen" is definitely full of science fiction. Speaking of transparent screens, lots of high-tech image from the film, television works and concept product promotion film may emerge people’s minds.

But transparent LED display actually has nothing to do with these, the high-tech image in the film is mostly virtual technology, reflecting not only future technology, but also kind of development direction in the future.


2. How to Calculate the LED transparent screen permeability?

To calculate the permeability, firstly we need to understand the concept of permeability. Permeability is a physical term, meaning the efficiency of the display device through the natural light. The transparency of transparent displays is defined as the percentage between the actual luminous flux through the light and the full permeability of the past luminous flux, the simplest formula is: permeability = (light transmission space / light strip interval) * 100%.

For the calculation of permeability of transparent displays, there is no industry standard for the time being, so LED transparent screen manufacturers have different calculation methods of the permeability for their own products. The main logic is as follows: permeability is usually calculated by the main part of the light strip, light board, that is, the shading of the power box does not count, the shading of the cabinet frame does not count, the shading of PC, acrylic board or glass (single or even double) does not count.


Take P12 transparent screen as an example, it is known that the thickness of the light strip PCB is 2m, the space between light strip and light strip is 12mm, then its light transmission space is 10mm, and the light transmission rate = 10/12 * 100%.
